Treating Psoriasis |

Psoriasis is a disease that affects both a person's joints and skin. It is commonly known for causing red scaly patches, called psoriatic plaques, on the skin. These areas most commonly occur on the elbows and knees. They are areas of inflammation where skin rapidly accumulates. With this chronic recurring condition, the severity can vary in severity from minor localized patches to completely covering a person's body. Many times this disease also leads to a specific type of arthritis as well.
Unfortunately, nobody seems to know what causes psoriasis. However, it is believed to be at least somewhat genetic. Of course, there are also some factors that will aggravate this condition, including: 1.Stress 2.The excessive consumption of alcohol 3.Smoking Since psoriasis can lead to depression, it is important to find a good treatment for this disease. While there are many different types of treatments available, the best one is climatotherapy. The basis of this treatment is the belief that the successful treatment of some diseases, such as psoriasis, occurs whenever the person lives in a particular climate. One of the most popular areas for this type of treatment is the Dead Sea. In fact, there have been numerous studies done about how the Dead Sea can be used to treat psoriasis. Lawrence C. Parish, M.D. actually conducted one such study at the Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. Many of these studies have shown that after four weeks of climatotherapy treatment the severity of the psoriasis will decrease by 81.5%. Part of the reason why the Dead Sea climate is so beneficial to those who suffer from psoriasis is because it receives a different and distinctive type of ultra violet spectrum from the sun. Accompanying this low ultraviolet radiation is an atmosphere that is high in oxygen and very low in pollution. Throughout the year there is very dry air and very sunny skies. This type of a climate is highly beneficial to those who suffer from psoriasis. While climatotherapy has been shown to be clinically viable, not everyone can make a trip to the Dead Sea. With this in mind, you should know that it is actually the minerals that are found within the Dead Sea's salt that plays a huge role whenever it comes to improving psoriasis. This is because these salts both cleanse and detoxify the human body naturally, pulling toxins out and away from the skin. For this reason, many people who are affected by psoriasis oftentimes turn their hopes to salt and minerals from the Dead Sea. Considering how the Dead Sea is able to treat such skin diseases as psoriasis, it is no wonder that thousands of tourists are attracted to this area every year. Simply bathing in the Dead Sea will bring about the great healing powers that can last for a while. This is something that dates back as far as Cleopatra and will reach far into the future as well. So, do your best to take advantage of this or the products from this area yourself. |
